First Steps

During this past year Bill has learned a lot about Phantoms and aerial videography. (Much of it at our field.) Today, his main rig is his trusty P2, Zenmuse gimbal, FatShark Attitude FPV and GoPro Hero4.

If you would like to learn more than humanly reasonable about flying quads over the Pacific Ocean and more importantly bringing then back to terra firma, check out his blog here.

Lots of valuable lessons here as well. Such a handy 17 step checklist to review before every flight recording session.  Bill’s mantra is “Have that SD card in your hand at the end of the day”.

Background.  Bill Schaub joined EBRC almost two years ago. During that first year, Bill completely depleted Hobbyking’s stash of Bixlers with systematic struggles with gravity. Last year around this time Bill realized that he could buy a DJI Phantom 2 and ultimately save himself some money because they pretty much flew themselves.

Bill grew up in Sacramento, attended Sac State and St. Mary’s College. He was awarded Naval Flight Officer’s Wings in 1970. He was never deployed to Nam but defended Virginia gallantly. His work career started with Xerox in early 70’s and ended 10 years ago as VP of Business Development for start-up Nielsen NetRatings that went public in 1999. (NTRT is now a private company.)

He is married with two big girls and two grandsons.
